Look Again | A 5-Day Journey Through Revelation 1
Before You Begin
Revelation can feel intimidating. For some of us, it brings to mind timelines, predictions, strange creatures, and questions about what happens next. But before Revelation shows us any of those things, it shows us Jesus.
For the next five days, we're going to slow down and look again at Revelation 1. Don't read it trying to figure everything out. Read it asking two simple questions:
Revelation wasn't only given to be understood. It was given to be kept.
READ → HEAR → KEEP.
For the next five days, we're going to slow down and look again at Revelation 1. Don't read it trying to figure everything out. Read it asking two simple questions:
- What does this show me about Jesus?
- What does this require of me?
Revelation wasn't only given to be understood. It was given to be kept.

Day 1: The Revealing of Jesus Christ
Reading: Revelation 1:1–3
Devotional: We often approach Revelation looking for codes, timelines, and predictions. But the very first words reframe everything. Revelation is an unveiling of Jesus Christ. God is not trying to hide something from His Church. He is showing His Church something. And the blessing in verse 3 belongs to those who read, hear, and keep what is written. Revelation demands a response, not just an interpretation. As you read today, ask: What does this show me about Jesus, and what does this require of me?

Day 2: Grace and Peace Before the Storm
Reading: Revelation 1:4–6
Devotional: Before John describes a single vision, he greets the churches with grace and peace. These believers were living under pressure and uncertainty, but Revelation does not begin with fear. It begins with grace. John points them to the God who is, who was, and who is to come. Their circumstances could change, but God had not. Peace doesn’t come from knowing the future. Peace comes from knowing the God who holds it.

Day 3: The King Who Loves His Church
Reading: Revelation 1:5–6; Romans 8:35–39
Devotional: Jesus is the faithful witness, the firstborn from the dead, and the ruler of the kings of the earth. But then John says something remarkable: “To him who loves us.” Before Jesus corrects the churches in Chapters 2 and 3, He reminds them that He loves them. The Jesus who confronts His Church is not a distant or angry King looking for reasons to reject His people. He is the King who gave His own blood to free them. When Jesus corrects His Church, He is correcting a Church He loves.

Day 4: Look Again at Jesus
Reading: Revelation 1:12–16; Daniel 7:9–14
Devotional: John turns and sees Jesus unlike we usually picture Him. His hair is white like wool, His eyes are like fire, His voice is like rushing waters, and His face shines like the sun. John is not giving us a police sketch. He is giving us a theological portrait. The imagery echoes Daniel’s vision of the Ancient of Days and reveals the divine identity, authority, and glory of Jesus. Revelation pulls back the curtain and tells us to look again. Empires rise and fall. Kings come and go. But Jesus is King.

Day 5: The King Among His People
Reading: Revelation 1:12–13, 17–20
Devotional: Jesus is standing in the midst of the lampstands, and the lampstands are His churches. He is not watching His Church from a distance. The King is standing among His people. When John falls at His feet in fear, this glorious King reaches down and touches him: “Fear not.” The hand powerful enough to hold the Church is gentle enough to touch a terrified disciple. Jesus is the First and the Last. He died, He is alive forevermore, and He holds the keys of Death and Hades. Whatever you are facing exists somewhere between the First and the Last. Death lost. Jesus has the keys.

Keep Looking
You've spent five days looking again at Revelation 1, but we're only getting started.
As we continue through Revelation, resist the temptation to get so focused on beasts, symbols, timelines, and what happens next that you miss the One standing at the center of it all.
Before the beasts, Jesus.
Before Babylon, Jesus.
Before judgment, Jesus.
Before death, Jesus.
Revelation pulls back the curtain and says: Look at Jesus.
And if we see Him clearly, we can faithfully follow Him no matter what happens next.
Keep reading. Keep listening. Keep obeying.
READ → HEAR → KEEP.
