What would it feel like to open your mailbox and find a letter addressed to you personally from Jesus? Not from a pastor, not from a theologian, but from Jesus himself? That is essentially what the seven churches in Revelation 2 and 3 experienced. These were not abstract theological documents. They were direct, pointed, deeply personal words from a risen and glorified Savior who made one thing unmistakably clear: he knows. He knows the hard work, the suffering, the compromise, the growth, and the hidden sin. Seven times across seven letters, Jesus says those two words: I know. And that reality is both confronting and comforting at the same time. This message walks us through four of those seven letters, holding them up like mirrors so we can ask ourselves a deeply honest question: where do I see myself? From the church that had all the right doctrine but lost its love, to the suffering church that was promised more suffering yet called to remain faithful, to the church standing firm against outside pressure while quietly tolerating compromise within, these letters reveal that spiritual health is rarely one-dimensional. We can be doing so much right and still be drifting in ways we have not yet acknowledged. The invitation is not to feel condemned but to respond, because Jesus speaks to his church precisely because he loves his church.
